OEMs almost never ever update peripheral software, like scanner operating software, because it is not worth the cost and hassle of going through Apple for the small-compared-to-Windows customer base. Hence OEMs rarely "update" drivers, Apple may or may not. This is a major issue that does not endear Apple to peripheral OEMs. The driver model does not completely change with every version of MacOS but the need to be "signed" by Apple does. Unlike Catalina, this OS feels solid right out of the gate.
The images printed perfectly with no color management issues. Every setting and control item appeared to be present.
While there were cosmetic changes to every window, requiring a tiny bit of searching for settings, everything worked flawlessly. I printed several images from PS CC to my Canon Pixma Pro 100. While a few (unrecognizable file names) files were segregated out and put into a Security folder and another folder as unusable in this OS, everything came over configured correctly.īig Sur did not like my copies of PS CS6 or Illustrator CS6 and CS5.

It was the easiest and most complete Migration Assistant experience I have ever had in a Mac OS install/Upgrade. The install booted into the external SSD and offered Migration Assistant to transfer everything from my internal Mojave SSD. I downloaded Big Sur today and installed onto an external SSD. If you do upgrade backup the OS with CarbonCop圜loner or similar beforehand!Īt the present time, I am downloading Big Sur on my 2019 MBP which will then install automatically. Even then it will apparently be a 'month or so' before Adobe's apps work natively with the new AS M1 CPU. I suggest don't buy a new printer unless there's a proper OEM driver available for macOS, as there isn't for some consumer printers!Ĭheck with printer manufacturer's website to see if there's a driver for your version of macOS.Īt present I don't see any compelling reason to upgrade to Big Sur, unless you buy a new Mac, which will come with it.

I suggest that if printing is very important to you wait until you hear (from reliable sources) that it works with your printer with FULL colour management and is very reliable before even thinking of upgrading! Probably best to wait for version 11.03 at least! Whatever you do, don't use the Apple Airprint driver, as this prevents proper printing with Application Colour Management.

It's possible that printer drivers now have to be 'signed' by Apple? No dice, the V600 has the same scanner-buttons problem as the V39.Haven't heard of any proper, as in OEM Canon, Epson, HP, etc., drivers being available yet. I returned the Perfection V39 to Amazon and then purchased the V600 because the V600 is on the Apple Store. It clearly is not compatible (at least not yet). Epson tech support insisted that the scanner is compatible over an over. The button works that one time and then nothing. I was using a Perfection V39 at that time. I spent about 2 hours with Epson tech support on 4/20/16, but they could not fix the problem. It's just the buttons on the scanner.Īgain, when I reset TWAIN devices via ImageCapture and then switch back to TWAIN devices as described above in my message here, the scanner button works just one time and then stop working. The scanner itself seems to be working fine via ImageCapture or Epson Scan app. I restart the computer and scanner and still no go with the buttons. The scanner on/off button does work, however. When the TWAIN switch alert window pops up, and I press to switch to TWAIN, the Epson Scan button on the scanner works one time. so Apple/Epson need to fix this.Īll the Epson scanner drivers and software are up to date on my MacBook Pro mid 2012, but the scanner buttons don't work. Note, the Epson Perfection V600 is sold on the Apple Store. I have El Capitan 10.11.4 I have the Epson Perfection scanner button problem.
